Golfing Through 40 States at 40 in a Year: A Year of Adventure and Giving Back

Turning 40 felt like the perfect time to take on a bold challenge—one that combined my love for golf, the thrill of travel, and the desire to make a difference. So, I set out to golf in 40 states over the course of a year, all while raising funds for charity. It was a journey that pushed my limits, enriched my soul, and brought new meaning to my milestone birthday.

From the rolling fairways of California to the windy courses of Chicago, and the scenic greens of Maine to the desert landscapes of Arizona, each state offered its own unique flavor of golf. Some days were sun-soaked and serene; others were windy battles with Mother Nature. But every round reminded me of the shared joy and challenge that make golf such a special game.

Beyond the courses, the real highlight was connecting with people across the country who shared their stories and generously supported the cause. The charity drive became more than just a side note—it was the heartbeat of the adventure. Together, we raised funds for programs that change lives, proving that passion and purpose can go hand in hand.

Looking back, I wish I had taken more photos—moments captured on greens under a setting sun or candid smiles from strangers who became friends. But perhaps the lack of pictures has its own beauty, leaving the memories vivid in my mind, like a personal highlight reel of an unforgettable year.

Now, the journey continues. With nine states left to golf—North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Alaska, Kentucky, Arkansas, Nebraska, Montana, and Idaho—this is the year I’ll finally complete my 50-state golf challenge. Each state represents one more step toward the finish line, and I can’t wait to experience the unique courses, landscapes, and moments they’ll bring.

After all, this isn’t just about checking off states on a map; it’s about celebrating the passion, persistence, and purpose that made it all possible.

Here’s to finishing the journey—and making every swing count.
